Honouring the Art of Jamdani.
JAMDANI
A weave that rewards patience.
Originating in the historic Bengal region, across present-day West Bengal and Bangladesh, Jamdani has been treasured for centuries for its remarkable artistry. Every motif is woven by hand, one thread at a time, using a technique so intricate that it is often compared to hand embroidery on the loom.
Creating a single Jamdani saree can take several days, and for more intricate designs, even weeks. Every flower, bird, vine, or geometric motif is carefully added by hand, with the weaver counting each thread to bring the design to life. It is a slow process that leaves no room for shortcuts, only skill, patience, and years of experience.
